He brings a wealth of expertise in: Corporate finance; business valuation and fund raising; due diligence and forensic accounting; business planning & strategy; MBO and business disposals; public offers, E-business and collaborative enterprise; strategic consulting, capital structuring, consulting for EIS, EMI, CVS, technology companies R&D tax; arbitration work, as well as international tax and audit. Mehrtash has a particular interest in knowledge capital based enterprises and the management challenges faced by them. His achievements include: designing a management course called "The Renaissance of Management" in 1990’s, working for clients at the International Tribunal in the Hague in late 1980’s, and more recently in leading the design and development of a major E-market place for professional services. His work life has enabled him to achieve a creative fusion of his professional, commercial and academic strands to become a specialist SME corporate finance adviser and consultant to growing businesses. Latterly, he has been an ardent advocate of the PLUS market for the SME’s. He is the founder and CEO of Maxim Corporate Finance LLP, and he has assembled a dynamic and highly experienced team of professionals to bring corporate finance expertise and strategic advice to the ambitious and fast growing SME’s.
Wake Smith was founded in 1802 and has a long history in Sheffield’s commercial development from Industrialisation to listing companies on Sheffield’s Stock Exchange as well as the nationalisation of its Steel and Coal industries. Latterly, with the rapidly growing sectors such as software engineering and media development in the region, Wake Smith’s client profile has changed too and it now acts for hundreds of clients in these and other sectors. Some of these clients are substantial and ambitious and potentially suit listing on the PLUS and AIM markets. David is specifically pursuing this very objective on behalf of Wake Smith through his membership of Maxim Corporate Finance LLP, in which he is a key equity partner. David’s personal expertise with over 30 years of professional experience include: acquisitions, mergers, de-mergers, banking, corporate finance, commercial contracts, joint ventures and partnerships. His wide ranging professional experience covers almost every sector, but his particular sector expertise include: healthcare, finance, media, engineering and manufacturing. He is married with two sons and he is also involved with various UK and overseas Social Firms and Charities. His interests include travel, cricket, football, cooking and enjoying other cultures.
John Mawhood BA (Contab)
He founded a software company, Business Integrity, which went through an MBO in 2003 and now counts Microsoft, Cisco, Reuters and UBS among its customers. John has wide experience of a range of commercial transactions and actions, including advisory and Board roles, notably advising on the placing and transfer to full list of Netbenefit plc and the AIM listing of CMS Webview plc. Until 2006 John was a partner in the Commercial Group of Eversheds in London specialising in intellectual property and digital business. He then set up his own practice focusing on specific growth company clients. With wide experience of creative businesses, raising capital for start-ups, second round financing as well as placings on AIM and the LSE, John brings pragmatic, first hand insight to the process of realising value from new business ventures as well as building brands and intellectual property. John is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and Freeman of the City of London.
Bhodi Sunth BA (Hons.), MIMC, AIBC
Currently, in addition to being a member of Maxim Corporate Finance LLP, Bhodi is also a director shareholder in a company that specialises in project management of companies going on to the AIM market in London. Further, he has a number of Non executive directorships and part time Until August 2006 Bhodi was a Business Advisory partner in a Top 50 Accountancy practice providing advice and support to SME’s and owner-managed companies. He headed the firm’s inward investment team and was a member of the Technology team.
John began his career in 1968 when he commenced work for a local firm of chartered accountants and has been in private practice throughout his professional career. He qualified as an ACCA in 1979 and was admitted to fellowship in April 1984. In 1979 he commenced his insolvency career and has since gained experience and knowledge in both complex corporate and personal insolvency matters. John’s in-depth knowledge in corporate recovery will be helpful to Maxim Corporate Finance for evaluating clients that may require initial assistance with some immediate financial matters. His expertise will be invaluable in assessing corporate recovery, refinancing, restructuring and reorganisation situations to help such clients move forward. John’s pastimes include sailing and he has sailed extensively, he also pursues country sports and is a keen fly fisherman and clay pigeon shooter.
Chris Metalle BA (Hons) , MBA
Chris has worked in the Venture Capital and Private Equity markets for over 20 years as an investment executive and professional adviser, assisting growth companies and shareholders. Chris is a graduate from Durham University and he also has an MBA. He is a senior associate with Maxim Corporate Finance LLP. He has worked at both 3i and BZW (now Barclays Capital) investing in a range of businesses from high tech start-ups to established management buy-outs and buy-ins. His experience spans company disposals and shareholder exits. He has also worked at Deloittes where he was responsible for a Corporate Finance team that advised on financing, buy-outs and acquisitions and disposals. He has advised a number of companies on finance raising whether from private equity or through pre-IPO funds. Chris’s wide experience of technology and fast growing businesses has led him to be involved in raising capital for start-ups, second round financing as well as placements with public fund managers on a pre-IPO basis. Chris has unrivalled experience at preparing businesses and management teams for the process of raising finance, creating value and delivering results. During his career Chris has worked on a range of transactions including some high profile ones:
More recently Chris and a team of colleagues set up their own property-based business for which he raised the funds, thus giving him first-hand experience of the process as it affects management teams.
